Sub-Carriers

Terms & Conditions — Sub-Carriers

The terms governing your use of the Platform as an individual driver or owner-operator.

Effective 26 March 2026[email protected]10 sections

These terms govern your use of The Carrier Hub Platform as a Sub-Carrier (an individual driver or owner-operator engaged by a Carrier to fulfil deliveries on their behalf). Please read them carefully before completing your registration.

1. Definitions

"Platform" means the online freight and logistics exchange operated by The Carrier Hub Ltd at www.thecarrierhub.com.

"Carrier" means the business or individual that has accepted a load on the Platform and has engaged you to fulfil all or part of that delivery.

"Sub-Carrier" means you — an individual driver or owner-operator registered on the Platform to accept and complete delivery jobs assigned by Carriers.

"Job" means a specific delivery assignment offered to you through the Platform by a Carrier.

"POD" means Proof of Delivery — photographic evidence and/or electronic signature confirming successful delivery.

2. Eligibility & Registration

To register and operate as a Sub-Carrier on the Platform you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence appropriate for the vehicle(s) you operate
  • Hold valid Hire and Reward (H&R) insurance covering the vehicle(s) you operate
  • Hold valid Goods in Transit (GIT) insurance to a minimum of £10,000 per load (or as required by the Carrier)
  • Hold a valid operator's licence if operating a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight
  • Have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom (see Section 3)
  • Not be subject to any disqualification, suspension, or prohibition that would prevent you from legally operating a commercial vehicle

You must ensure all compliance documents remain valid and in-date throughout your registration. You must notify us immediately if any document expires, is revoked, or is subject to any investigation.

3. Right to Work

Under the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025 (which received Royal Assent on 2 December 2025 and amends the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006), online matching platforms that introduce service providers to clients for a fee are now subject to the right to work checking regime.

By registering as a Sub-Carrier, you confirm and warrant that:

  • You are a British or Irish citizen, or hold valid leave to remain in the United Kingdom that permits self-employment and commercial driving
  • You will provide documentary evidence of your right to work when requested during onboarding or at any subsequent point during your registration
  • You will notify us immediately if your immigration status changes

We are required to retain records of right to work checks. Providing false documentation is a criminal offence. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we are unable to verify your right to work.

4. Independent Contractor Status

You are engaged as an independent contractor, not an employee, worker, or agent of The Carrier Hub Ltd or of any Carrier. Nothing in these terms creates or implies any employment relationship, partnership, joint venture, or agency.

You are solely responsible for:

  • Payment of your own income tax and National Insurance contributions
  • Maintaining your own business records and submitting Self Assessment returns to HMRC
  • Your own vehicle maintenance, fuel, and running costs
  • Compliance with all applicable road traffic, transport, and health and safety legislation

The Platform does not guarantee a minimum number of Jobs, a minimum level of earnings, or any exclusivity of work.

5. HMRC Platform Reporting (DAC7)

Under the Income Tax (Digital Platform Reporting) Regulations 2023 (implementing DAC7), The Carrier Hub Ltd is required to collect, verify, and report information about sellers (including Sub-Carriers) who earn income through the Platform to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) annually.

The information we are required to report includes your name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number or Tax Identification Number, bank account details (if provided), and the total consideration paid to you through the Platform in each calendar year.

The first reports covering the 2024 calendar year were submitted to HMRC by 31 January 2025. Reports are submitted annually thereafter by 31 January for the preceding calendar year.

You will receive a copy of the information reported about you to HMRC no later than 31 January each year. If you believe any reported information is incorrect, please contact us at [email protected].

6. Biometric Data & Identity Verification

During registration, you are required to provide a live selfie photograph taken through your device's front-facing camera. This image is processed as special category biometric data under UK GDPR Article 9.

Your consent: By completing the selfie capture step, you give your explicit consent under UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a) for us to process your facial image for the purpose of identity verification and fraud prevention. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us at [email protected], but withdrawal of consent will result in the suspension of your account as we are unable to verify your identity without it.

Processing: Your image is analysed by an AI liveness detection system (powered by Google Gemini) to confirm you are a real, live person. The AI does not perform facial recognition against any external database. The result and your image are reviewed by our compliance team.

Retention: Your selfie is retained for the duration of your registration and for 6 years thereafter for fraud prevention and legal compliance purposes.

For full details see our Privacy Policy and AI Transparency Statement.

7. Job Acceptance & Completion

When you accept a Job through the Platform:

  • You are entering into a binding agreement with the Carrier to complete the delivery in accordance with the Job specification
  • You must complete all stops in a multi-stop Job before payment is released
  • You must upload a valid POD (photograph and/or electronic signature) upon completion of each delivery
  • Funds will be released to you by the Carrier upon verified POD upload
  • You must not sub-contract any Job to a third party without the express written consent of the Carrier

8. Conduct & Compliance

You must at all times:

  • Comply with all applicable road traffic legislation, including speed limits, hours of service, and load securing requirements
  • Maintain your vehicle in a roadworthy condition and ensure it is appropriately insured and licensed
  • Treat Carriers, Shippers, and their customers with courtesy and professionalism
  • Not misrepresent your vehicle type, capacity, or compliance status on the Platform
  • Not engage in any conduct that brings the Platform or The Carrier Hub Ltd into disrepute

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for any breach of these obligations, and to report serious concerns to the relevant authorities (DVSA, police, HMRC, or the Home Office as appropriate).

9. Data Protection

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. As a Sub-Carrier, the Carrier who assigns Jobs to you will also have access to certain information about you (name, vehicle details, compliance status, and contact information) for the purpose of managing the delivery. You acknowledge this data sharing as a necessary part of the Platform's operation.

10. Governing Law & Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you have a complaint about the Platform, please contact us at [email protected] or refer to our Dispute Information page.
